15 Best Beaches in East Mallorca

Swim, snorkel, and sunbathe in paradise at the best beaches in East Mallorca. This popular island coast is filled with beachfront resorts, tourist-friendly beaches, and local gems where even Mallorcans escape for solitude.

There are plenty of beaches tucked in small coves. So, beach hop or pick a favorite to call home for your Mallorca beach holiday!

1. Cala Mesquida

Get away from the island’s busiest beaches for a tranquil setting on the northeast coast in Cala Mesquida. Even in the peak season, I had plenty of sand and space to take in the untouched beauty. No wonder it is designated a “natural area of special interest.”

The soft sand shore extends 350 meters along the turquoise bay. It’s set beside a pine-covered sand dune and rugged cliffside to make it feel remote.

2. Cala Agulla

Pack your snorkeling gear because there are lots to discover underwater at Cala Agulla. Find this small beach next to the fishing port and resort town of Cala Ratjada. Hope you like the water because you’ll spend all day here.

My day started by finding a spot on the 55-meter beach—more than enough room for the visiting crowds. Known as one of the top Mallorca snorkeling beaches, snorkeling was high on my list of things to do. I spotted more than a dozen types of fish—from beam to sea bass.

3. Cala Santanyí

Thank nature for doing an amazing job carving out the stunning Cala Santanyí. I did the legwork in finding one of the best-secluded beaches, and this one does the trick. It’s a tiny inlet at the mouth of a bay tucked between rocky cliffs.

The beach is 130 meters long with plenty of families with kids splashing in the shallow waters. I recommend snorkeling or hiring a kayak to the Es Pontàs natural limestone arch bridge towering 13 meters over the water. For the best view, head to the clifftop to the Mirador Es Pontàs and catch the golden sunrise over the Balearic Sea.

4. Cala Llombards

Vacation like true Mallorcans at the Cala Llombards. It’s one of the last best-kept secrets by the locals. But don’t feel shy if you’re the only tourist stopping by—everyone’s friendly!

This remote beach slopes gently into the bay, giving shallow water for snorkeling and gentle waves to swim. Dry off beneath palm-thatch umbrellas at the beachside Chiringuito bar. Take my advice: nothing says paradise more than relaxing with your feet in the warm sand while cooling off with a refreshing fruit smoothie.

5. Cala D’or

Whether admiring the shimmering golden sand beaches or catching the golden sunrise, I finally understand why Cala D’or is called the “golden bay.” When you’re here, check out the five coves that make up the coast.

The centrally-located Cala Gran is the most-visited beach, where you’ll find most tourists and yachts from the nearby marina. Cala Ferrara is a resort beach with calm waters for swimming, and Cala Petita is a small cove if you’re looking for a secluded shore to sunbathe.

When you’re feeling up for an adventure, there are plenty of hiking trails in the nearby Mondragó Natural Park. Trails extend through dense pine forests lively with birdlife before arriving at the scenic Cala Mondragó.

6. Cala Romantica (S’Estany d’en Mas)

Serenity is closing your eyes and listening to waves gently pound the sloping shore at Cala Romantica (S’Estany d’en Mas). Take turns hopping over the incoming waves, or go for what I consider the ultimate jumping experience: leaping off the weathered cliffs into the water.

Cala Romantica is a family-friendly beach with sunbeds, parasols, and a lifeguard present during the busy season. Catamaran boats frequent the beach to take you on boat tours to nearby coves and to see other nearby landmarks like the natural rock bridge or discover the hidden cave.

7. Cala Varques

The Cala Varques lagoon in Mallorca

Contrary to popular belief, not all beaches are crowded. Cala Varques is a natural beach oasis, considered the quietest on the east coast of Mallorca. My one-hour hike from Cala Romantica to Cala Varques wasn’t the easiest, but I was instantly rewarded with a beautiful, secluded beach.

Visitors can cool off from the hike by splashing in the aquamarine blue waters great for diving and snorkeling. The low cliffs give you an excellent sea view while sunbathing on the shore.

8. S’Amarador

I recommend arriving at S’Amarador Beach early to claim your spot. Luckily, it’s 150 meters long with plenty of room to lounge on the shore or enjoy the water. It’s my go-to beach for a more laid-back setting since water sports aren’t common here.

The beach sits on a sea inlet of the Cala Mondragó Nature Reserve. You can hike to the beach or use the car park just a five-minute walk away. Bring your beach gear for snorkeling or join the kids cliff-jumping into the sea. There’s a bear bar for snacks and drinks when you need a break from the water.

Interestingly, during my visit in May, we had an unexpected guest – a baby blue shark that had stranded itself on the shore. It caused quite a stir among the beachgoers. Still, luckily, it managed to find its way back into the ocean eventually, ensuring a happy ending to this unusual beach day story.

S’Amarador Beach, with its unique blend of relaxation and adventure, truly has something for everyone.

Guests at the Iberostar Club Cala Barca have an all-inclusive stay at one of the best beaches in East Mallorca. Remember that the beach is free and open to the public, so you don’t have to be a guest to come!

Insider tip: the pine-tree-covered cliffs flanking either side of the beach are the best place for snorkeling or enjoying the thrill of cliff jumping. Kayak rentals are available.

10. Caló des Moro

An oasis for travel photographers, Caló des Moro is one of the best beaches Mallorca offers. You’ve likely already seen photos of this photogenic coastline, but I underestimated how stunning it looks seeing it in person—especially during the evening.

Take in views overlooking the beach as you descend the cliffs to the sandy shores. The tiny cove measures only 40 meters with beach caves. Swim, snorkel, or go for a boat ride and watch how the clear waters make you feel like you’re floating over the seabed.

This beach is one of the best sunset spots in Mallorca.

11. Platja de Muro

You’ll tire yourself walking the six kilometers long Platja de Muro, the longest beach in Mallorca. So, pick a spot to lay your blanket and enjoy one of the best beaches near the North of Mallorca. It’s perfect for planning a beach day to Alcudia Bay where beachcombers, water sports enthusiasts, and kids will all have a blast.

Platja de Muro is a Blue Flag Award beach for its pristine condition. Relax in sunloungers lining the beach to escape the sun. Or embrace the beautiful weather with parasailing, kite surfing, jet skiing, and even an inflatable banana ride the kids will love.

It’s one of Mallorca’s newest resort areas, so you’ll find several resorts and restaurants lining the promenade.

Cala Sant Vicenç is a sleepy fishing village carved out of the Cavall Bernat range that wakes up to welcome us beachgoers who visit.

Four small bays make up the cove, so there’s always a lovely spot on the shore waiting for you even during the busy holiday season. You’ll get to swim in some of the clearest waters on the island.

13. Cala Millor

Visiting Cala Millor is an adventure: cross the palm-tree-lined promenade by dodging cyclists and rollerbladers, skip across the burning sand, and splash into Cala Millor. It’s worth it to visit one of the largest and best beaches in East Mallorca.

Pearly white sand stretches more than one kilometer along the bay. Pitch a sun umbrella and relax on the beach with views of Mount Na Penyal in the distance. Get in the water for a ride on the banana boat. Later, soar thru the sunny skies in a parasail overlooking the coast.

I ended my beach day by strolling down the pedestrian streets for fresh seafood pasta at the beachfront Sapori d’Italia. Afterward, try to see what makes Cala Millor a popular nightlife destination.

Alcudia Beach is the largest at 7 kilometers long. Many beachfront resorts are lining the coast, so expect crowds any time of year you visit.

I love seeing the city transform on a walk from the UNESCO World Heritage Alcudia Old Town to reach the beach boardwalk. Watch for seashells decorating the beach, and enjoy water sports, sailing, and more. The beach has an onsite shower and changing room.
