Our Top 3 Picks: Best Boat Rentals in Mallorca

Mallorca Boat Rentals 🛥️

Why Rent a Boat in Mallorca?

Have you ever been on a boat tour and, as you see something super interesting in the distance, wished you could reroute to take a closer look? I know I have – and it can be frustrating.

Renting a boat in Mallorca is ideal in these situations, as you can choose precisely where you go. If you want to spend a whole day moored out to sea, swimming and snorkeling with Mallorca’s beautiful beaches as the backdrop – go ahead! If you want to experience the thrill of a power boat, zooming past the island’s coastline at high speed – that can be arranged.

Mallorca has so many amazing sights. Some popular boating destinations include Cap de Formentor, a stunning peninsula on the island’s northwest coastline, and Sa Calobra, a beautiful cove with the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range dominating its background.

I can guarantee that seeing these sights from the water brings a perspective you can’t match if you explore on land. Many of Mallorca’s best things to do are only accessible by water, and the island capital, Palma, also entices visitors with fun activities, which can be enjoyed while renting a boat.

Things to Consider When Renting a Boat

Best boat rentals Mallorca

Many people are put off renting a boat in Mallorca, because they assume a license is required. I thought the same thing when I first visited. But, as luck would have it, I overheard a conversation between two tourists saying that smaller boats in Mallorca don’t require a license. I was really excited to learn this – and within a few days, I was enjoying my first experience of freedom on the ocean waves.

Of course, you’ll need to make some choices to narrow down your rental options, for example:

  • How many people are going?
  • What size boat are you happy to operate?
  • Which part of the island do you want to explore?
  • How long do you want to rent a boat for?

The larger the boat and the longer the rental, the more expensive it will be. But it will probably be one of your favorite activities, so it’s well worth the splurge.

Booking Your Boat Rental

You’ll want to consider certain things before you commit to renting a boat. These include:

  • Check reviews from other guests. All my suggestions in this article are verified and well-rated, so you can be sure you’re signing up with a quality operator.

Where to Stay in Mallorca for Boating Enthusiasts

Puerto de Soller Port of Mallorca with lllaut boats

When deciding where to stay in Mallorca, think about access to boat rentals, but also make sure there’s plenty for you to do before and after your boating experience.

Some of the best places to stay for boating enthusiasts are:

Santa Ponsa

Loads of boat rental companies operate out of this resort on Mallorca’s southwestern coast. And when you’re on dry land, you can enjoy the plentiful restaurants and bars, the long beach or nearby coves, as well as the forested nature reserve of Puig de Galatzó.

Alcudia

Alcudia sits on Mallorca’s north coast and is one of the island’s most established resort towns. With many bars, cafes, and eateries, you’ll never be short of things to do. There’s also one of the longest stretches of beach on the island and a well-preserved Old Town to explore.

Can Pastilla

Can Pastilla is a low-key, family-friendly resort town on the island’s south coast. It’s great if you want a beach holiday with plenty of boat rentals to choose from, but it also offers easy access to Palma, for a taste of city life.

Palma de Mallorca

Palma is the most sophisticated part of Mallorca and offers a cosmopolitan introduction to the island. Many boat rental companies are operating out of Palma Bay, so you can marvel at a colorful sunset on the water, then return to Palma for a night spent enjoying its gorgeous Old Town and its nearby Palma de Mallorca beaches.

Conclusion: Setting Sail in Mallorca

From personal experience, I know how special it is to plan your boat rentals Mallorca-style. The coastline is stunning, the water’s unbelievably warm and clear, and the freedom to choose your own route is unbeatable.

You can rent a boat whichever month you prefer because any time of year is the best time of year to visit Mallorca. And when your vacation’s over and you’re back home, you’ll be glad you got out on the water, treated yourself to epic views, and toasted your trip with a delicious glass of chilled cava. Salud!
